Company Overview:

Northern Utah Rehabilitation Hospital is a 40-bed, Rehabilitation Hospital.  Our facility, designed solely for the provision of specialized rehabilitative care, is the only freestanding rehabilitation hospital in Northern Utah. The facility’s unique design will foster a comfortable and responsive environment for our patients.

Our hospital provides rehabilitative services for patients with functional deficits as a result of debilitating illnesses, or injuries. Through our inpatient rehabilitation programs, we help patients recover quickly and return home with a renewed sense of self-sufficiency.

Position Overview:

Responsible for the overall operations of the nursing department, including high quality, cost effective delivery of patient care, managing nursing personnel, and developing and implementing approved department projects and goals.  Responsible for management of waived testing and equipment.  The DNO is a member of the hospital Governing Body.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Directs the functions of the nursing department in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and standards. Oversees nursing department staffing, retention, and development.  Provides education, direction and mentorship of the nursing team’s function, purpose, and goals.
  • Participates in developing the hospital’s mission, strategic plans, budgets, resources allocations, operations plans, and procedures in conjunction with the hospital Administrator, other program directors, governing body, and medical staff to ensure clinical areas are represented in planning and conducting organizational improvement.
  • Prepares annual capital and operating budget for nursing department. Monitors department expenses on designated schedule.
  • Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership and nursing department and is actively involved in performance improvement process, including data collection and analysis, and process improvement activities.
  • Collaborates on an interdepartmental level to integrate nursing services with the patient’s total health care plan. Participates in all admission decisions, and monitors patient outcomes.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.  Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

Required Skills:

  • Current state RN license required
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a hospital nurse management position preferred.
  • Master’s degree or working towards completion preferred.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice, infection control, and wound care standards of practice.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.
