Long-Term Acute Care Services:   At Laredo Specialty Hospital, we provide long-term acute care services to patients who are recovering from serious illnesses or injuries and often require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions. Inpatient Rehabilitation Services:  At Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital, we provide inpatient rehabilitation to people recovering from disabling diseases and injuries, such as strokes, orthopedic, brain, and spinal cord injuries. In addition, we treat individuals who may have chronic illnesses such as cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital ranked in the top 10% nationally for rehabilitative care for its 1st eligible year.  The ranking is by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), a not-for-profit corporation that was developed with support from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation research, a component of the U.S. Department of Education. The UDSMR ranks rehabilitation facilities based upon care that is:

  • This means that through services at Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital, our patients are receiving the highest level of rehabilitative care available nationally without having to leave the area.

Responsible for providing hospital telecommunication services through the use of telephones, pagers, the paging system, radio, or computer to connect communication between visitors, callers, staff, patients, and patients' families. May maintain records related to telecommunications (e.g., long distance phone calls, on-call employees, pages). Integrates the hospital’s mission and "Guiding Principles" into daily practice.  Answers and transfers incoming calls. Greets visitors and maintains visitor log.Pages staff as required.  Relays messages and information to requested party(ies).  Communicates with appropriate staff during emergency situations and drills.  Complies with emergency procedures such as code blue, fire and external disaster, etc.  Provides customer service to hospital staff and visitors.  Provide backup as an Admissions Representative. Conduct admissions of patients, including required paperwork. Generate inpatient census report. Complete data entry pertaining to charge and adjustment entries.  Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the department.  Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

One year of reception experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrates general computer skills including: data entry, word processing, email, and record management.

Effective organizational and time management skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.

Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
