Long-Term Acute Care Services:   At Laredo Specialty Hospital, we provide long-term acute care services to patients who are recovering from serious illnesses or injuries and often require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions. Inpatient Rehabilitation Services:  At Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital, we provide inpatient rehabilitation to people recovering from disabling diseases and injuries, such as strokes, orthopedic, brain, and spinal cord injuries. In addition, we treat individuals who may have chronic illnesses such as cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital ranked in the top 10% nationally for rehabilitative care for its 1st eligible year.  The ranking is by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), a not-for-profit corporation that was developed with support from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation research, a component of the U.S. Department of Education. The UDSMR ranks rehabilitation facilities based upon care that is:

Using discretion and independent judgment, the Respiratory Therapist performs quality patient care as a member of the therapy team, providing respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed and with minimal supervision.  This position provides direct patient care to patients of all ages. 

Performs medically prescribed respiratory care procedures in accordance with departmental and unit policy and procedures.  Assesses the patient's condition based upon clinical observation, patient interview, physician diagnoses and notes; laboratory and radiological findings.  Uses professional judgment in determining the appropriateness of therapy, and confers with the patient's physician.


One (1) year recent experience in acute care setting preferred.

Current  Texas state license as a Certified Respiratory Therapist; Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred. Current CPR certification.

Ability to read, write and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions
