At South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, we provide inpatient rehabilitation to people recovering from disabling diseases and injuries, such as strokes, orthopedic, brain, and spinal cord injuries. In addition, we treat individuals who may have chronic illnesses such as cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

Position descriptions: Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, LPN/LVN, or licensed Therapist depending upon assignment, performs delegated tasks and procedures of patient care, involving the physical, psychological, social, emotional, safety and security needs of the patient. The patient care technician actively participates in departmental activities and processes.

  • Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, which may include toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, freshwater and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs.
  • Performs delegated procedures including obtaining and recording vital signs; measuring and recording intake and output; obtaining and recording weights; collecting specimens; and additional special procedures as directed.
  • Provides for nourishment and hydration with awareness of special diet and precautions including fluid restrictions and calorie counts.
  • Documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights.

Requirements:

Certification as a C.N.A or Patient Care Technician in the State of Texas

Current CPR
