Job Description

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients through the use of the nursing process and supports ANA standards of nursing. Therefore, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessments, planning, supervising, interventions, and evaluations designed to prevent complications of physical disability, restore optimal functioning and help the patient adapt to an altered life style. The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing patient care provided through support personnel. The RN provides care to adolescents through geriatric age patients. This goal is met by cooperation and communication with inter-and-intra-departmental staff, patients and families

  • Completes physical assessment/summary of findings on assigned patients.
  • Completes admission assessment, including evaluation and signature
  • Coordinates continuous shift assessment to determine the diagnoses or issues
  • Prioritizes data collection activities based on the patient’s immediate condition or anticipated needs
  • With appropriate input from all team members, documents a patient care plan and creates expected outcomes
  • Updates Plan of Care/Interdisciplinary Team Conference notes at least weekly
  • Discusses plan of care with patient and/or significant other
  • Participates in Heads Up, Morning Huddle and Team Conference when appropriate.
  • Identifies patient and family learning needs. Teaches patients and families using effective teaching methods and then documents accordingly
  • Understands and adheres to infection control and wound care standards of practice
  • Redirects plan of care as condition indicates
  • Completes all documentation and uses appropriate abbreviations
  • Contacts physicians in a timely manner and follows appropriate chain of command
  • Participates in Process Improvement as directed by nursing leadership
  • Maintains patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters
  • Attends staff meetings and other required meetings as directed by nursing and hospital leadership
  • Integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice

 

Skills / Requirements

 Required Skills:

  • Current RN license in the state of Montana required.
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Hospital experience preferred
